Welcome: Bay Area Science Festival

Leading the Way in STEM Learning

Bay Area LEEDS (Linking Education and Economic Development Strategies) is dedicated to helping the region’s youth get ready for tomorrow’s STEM careers. We are working to strengthen the workforce pipeline through a collaboration with business and educators that supports students in pursuing post-secondary pathways leading to high-wage/high-demand jobs in the global economy.

We believe more secondary students should have access to a high-quality career technical education (CTE) that provides a rigorous curriculum at its core. That is why we value the implementation of Project Lead The Way® (PLTW) at middle and high schools in the region. PLTW is reinventing the classroom experience to create an engaging, hands-on classroom environment that empowers students to develop the knowledge and skills they need to thrive. PLTW also provides teachers with the training, resources and support that is critical to engaging students in real-world learning.

And, it’s working. CTE students graduate at higher rates, attend college at higher rates, and persist to completion at higher rates having obtained a certificate, 2- or 4-year degree.

Bay Area Science Festival is one way Bay Area LEEDS provides opportunities for our PLTW students to share their knowledge and skills with others, demonstrating their skill sets and relaying information through community activities and special events. We know that students become more aware of their abilities through these types of opportunities.

We hope you enjoy seeing what our Discover Engineering! students have accomplished–learning that will last them a lifetime.
