Bay Area LEEDS provides opportunities for students to share their knowledge and skills with others, demonstrating their skill sets and relaying information through community activities and special events. We know that students become more aware of their abilities through these types of opportunities.
Demonstrating knowledge and skills more thoroughly ingrains new concepts into the consciousness of young people, helping them to capture learning. Student demonstrations improve learning and allow students to practice their skills in a controlled environment, allowing them to become more confident in the skill.
A variety of opportunities are provided throughout the year for students including the Contra Costa County Science & Engineering Fair where students showcase their science & engineering projects with up to 140 business partners; the Bay Area Science Festival and Discovery Days, where over 25,000 community members converge for an incredible hands-on experience, and the Engineering Design Challenge where high school engineering students showcase their talents in a day-long design competition.
